How to pay National Open University of Nigeria School fees

“Please, How do I pay for my school fee?” “Please help me generate Remita “, “I have made money to the bank for days now but it has not reflected “. These are the kind of questions students, especially new students ask all the time. I have come to simplify that for you in this post. You will learn how to pay your school fees by yourself from the comfort of your home using your smartphone or laptop. There are many options for paying your school fees: USSD, Online Banking(the use of your ATM), going to any bank. We will explore these options.

Steps

I will subhead these steps into different sections:

  • Logging into Your Portal
  • Generating Remita Retrieval Reference Number (RRR)
  • Making the Payment Depending on the Option You Choose
  • Finally, Making the Payment to Reflect

Logging into Your Portal

First, the first you want to do after deciding to pay your fees is to log in to your student’s profile. And of course, you know how much you want to pay, I cannot determine that as it varies depending on the number of courses you want to register for. You can use our Feecheck Tool to determine this. Go to www.nouonline.net and Click on Students → Login

Once you are there. You need to input your credential(Matric number and password) and click on Submit button.

You will be logged into your Student’s Profile if the matric number and password you provided are correct. Now it is time to generate your RRR

Generating Remita Retrieval Reference Number

The next step is to generate the RRR which will be used for payment. Just in case you are wondering what RRR is. Remita Retrieval Reference Number (RRR) is a 12-digit code that is electronically generated. The Remita Retrieval Reference Number (RRR) is used for making financial payments on the Remita platform, which is one of the biggest online banking platforms in West Africa countries.

To generate your RRR go to eWallet→Generate Remita Number

It will take you to another page, scroll down a little, you will see fields prefilled with your full name, email address, and phone number and an empty field for you to input the amount you wish to pay.

Input the amount you want to pay in the Amount form field. Select BANK BRANCH as the payment type I will input three thousand (N3000) for this. This is just an example. You can pay in any amount you wish

And click the Pay button.

You will be redirected to Remita where you will see your RRR(it is 12 digits separated by - hyphens at every 4 digits).

Copy this RRR out. It is very important, especially if for some reason, you do not have access to the email on your student’s portal. This is because you need this RRR later to make the payment reflect for the course and exam registration.

Also, notice an additional N161.25 to the N3000. That is the Remita charge.

Making the Payment Depending on the Option You Choose

If you have the time to go to the bank to make payment, the RRR copied is all you need. Walk into any bank in Nigeria tell them that you want to make payment through Remita for the National Open University of Nigeria. That is it. If you have paid by going to the bank, just head to the next section to see how you can make the payment reflect on your portal. …….

If you wish to pay using either USSD or your CARD. By default, clicking SUBMIT on the Remita page will take you to this page where it asks you to input your CARD details(make sure no one is around you) Input those details needed and click on the Pay NGN …. button. You will be prompted to pay input your CARD pin and after that, you will get a One Time Password(OTP) sent from your Bank to your registered phone number. Then input this OTP to authorize the payment. That is it.

Another option you have is USSD. You can pay your school fees using USSD as you would in a regular USSD transaction. It is all about convenience. Some persons may have issues with their CARD and resort to using USSD.

To use the USSD option, Click the USSD option → Choose the USSD code Provider(depending on your bank). The code should appear. Copy the code and dial on your phone, you will be shown the amount and some details of the transaction, then input your PIN as you would in other USSD transactions.

Making the Payment to Reflect

At this point, you have gone to the bank and made your payment, or you have used either the USSD or CARD option to make payment. The money does not automatically get credited into your portal. You will have to make it appear on your portal. To do that, follow the first step and login into your Student’s Portal

Now you have to click on ewallet→Credit RRR

This will take you to another page, scroll down a little, you will see where you need to input the 12 digits RRR associated with the payment you just made(Remember I told you to keep it safe). Input your RRR(without the hyphens -, like this 123456789012 and not like this 1234-5678-9012) below your prefilled Matric Number and click on Check RRR Payment.

If the RRR you provided is correct, automatically, the next page will be updated with the payment you just made. Congratulations! You have just paid your school fees and made it reflect on your portal.
